If you are in that stage where your baby suddenly wants to be on you 24 seven, cries the second you walk away, or refuses to go to anyone else, I'm just here to say you're not doing anything wrong. This is actually one of the clingiest stages in all of baby development. Moms message me about this constantly. They say things like, I can't put her down. He screams if I leave the room, or she only wants me. And the truth is around six to nine months, babies develop something called separation awareness. So this is the age when they finally understand you exist, but you can also leave. And once that clicks, their attachment system goes into overdrive. So this is also the age when stranger anxiety peaks, they start crawling, they want independence, but they don't fully feel safe with it. So all of that makes them cling harder especially to their primary caregiver, which is usually mom. And here's the part that no one tells you. It's completely normal to feel touched out, drained, or even guilty because you just need space. This phase is biologically designed to feel overwhelming to moms. Clinginess at this age is not a sign of bad habits or you're spoiling your baby or anything that you did wrong. It's literally a developmental milestone that all babies go through. And it always passes.
